About

Hi! I'm Katina!

I married my best friend in November 2007 and became mama to a beautiful baby girl in September 2014. I realized sometime when I was dating my husband that life is not worthwhile unless I’m living it completely for Jesus. I’m still figuring out what that looks like :)

I have learned in the past few years that a big part of that is to focus on the joys life brings and give Him glory for it all. That is what I have tried to do through this blog and the reason that it’s called “Katina's Happy Thoughts.” I have learned that happiness is often a choice that we make and that we must make it every.single.day.

I started writing this blog years ago when my husband and I moved to Central Asia to document our travels and keep people back home informed, but through the years it has evolved into many different things. I wrote a lot about life, dabbled in writing about my baking experiences and most recently it was a chronicle of thanksgiving and honesty during a time of extreme difficulty for me as I battled with infertility

On the other side of that battle now, after living a year in Central Asia for a year with our daughter, we are back in the States living such a blessed reality with my parents close by . In being a mother I have found a very strong sense of purpose. I have always found my purpose in Christ and in bringing Him glory, but now I see being a mother as being a huge way of bringing Him the glory He deserves.

As a result of the passion that I have gained in this area I have chosen to begin focusing my blog on my experiences as a mother. I want to chronicle as much as I can about this journey and share as much insight as I can offer.

I share what I have found to be good and helpful in MY parenting experience, I’ll try to share any sources that have influenced me through this journey as well that might be helpful for you. I understand that we all have different ways of doing things that we feel are best for our families and our babies, and the way I have done it may not work for you. As a result I try to be kind and thoughtful or others opinions when writing about my experiences. I would love to hear back from you if you find any of the posts encouraging or helpful :)
